This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 4th graders in an inner-city school in New Jersey. I love my job and find it to be one of the most rewarding feelings when I can change or influence one student's outlook on something. This year, I have 21 students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and neighborhoods. I have 11 students who have special needs in my classroom. It would greatly benefit my students to have places to sit while they are reading or writing.
My Project
A lot of us have a difficult time sitting still in our seats. We are always arguing with each other over being allowed to move to the window or the back table. We are asking for your help in obtaining items that will allow us to channel some of our energy in flexible seating options. We are requesting 4 bean bag chairs to sit on. We are also asking for whiteboards, markers, and erasers so that we can take our work with us. We will use the items when we are working on the rug as a whole class, with partners or when we just need to take a break!
