This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are terrific young people trying to make their best lives in rural Alabama. Our school serves K-12 students from Thomaston, Alabama, and the surrounding area. ALJ is a Title I school due to the intense poverty here. All our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
A classroom set of laptops will help us to explore the wider world.
We can use them for research projects, for communication with scientists in other parts of the world, and to learn more about ourselves and the universe.
Computers will enrich their lives and their learning. Please consider funding our need!
My Project
We need more laptops for our classroom. Currently, we do not have enough for each student to be able to use a laptop for individual assignments. If we could have a situation in which a one-to-one student/laptop scenario existed, each student could be working independently at times.
One-to-one technology will help my students to reach their potential.
Using technology is second nature to students today, and the jobs of the future will rely on employees who are fluent technology users. Textbooks and paper will always have a place in the classroom, but they don't adequately represent the future of our students.
