Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a class of 20 Pre-K students in Miami. Our classroom is part of a fee-supported VPK program where some students have the option of staying full day in the classroom for extra enrichment. My students are a sweet bunch with a lot of energy.
They use this energy to play, explore, discover and learn.
It is amazing how much growth they do in one year. I can also say from experience, they aren't the only ones learning as every year, I learn along with them. The joy on their faces when they master a new skill is so fun to watch.
My Project
Our classroom is in need of two new tables for our students to work on. In Pre-K, "work" can mean many things from drawing to building to reading and writing. We also work in large group and small group settings throughout the day.
Bigger tables mean more space for students to work together.
These specific tables have the added bonus of doubling as a marker board. Students will be able to fit comfortably and write on the tables using dry-erase markers. This will give us endless opportunities for learning while also cutting down on the use of paper in the classroom.
