The students in my class are vibrant, expressive, and caring. They work incredibly hard and want nothing else than for me to be proud of and excited for them! Obviously, this makes my heart swell and makes me want nothing but the absolute best for them.
From all different walks of life, and with a strong military presence, many students in our school experience transient lifestyles, making my classroom one of few consistent things in their lives, a home away from home, as every classroom should be.
Our school is a Title I school in southeast Georgia, with 75% of students receiving free or reduced price lunch. We serve many students experiencing challenges on a daily basis that we cannot begin to understand. Despite these challenges, they come to school and tirelessly attempt and put forth incredible effort.
It is an honor for me to teach these sweet kiddos, and a privilege I do not take lightly. They know that I believe they are capable of anything they put their mind to and it is my job to provide them with every wonderful opportunity imaginable.
The Get Your Teach On National Conference is a breeding ground for innovation, rigor, and engagement within the world of education. This summer, many educational leaders will gather at the Get Your Teach On National Conference in Orlando to speak and present on topics related to shaping the best educators nationwide! I am always looking to become the best teacher I can be, and this experience will give me the opportunity to meet with teachers from across the nation to share ideas and collaborate. I will develop skills leading me to be a more engaging, passionate, and intentional teacher. It will also give me tips, tools, tricks, and best practices necessary to empower and encourage myself in the process of creating rigorous and meaningful learning experiences. In turn, this will directly benefit my sweet first graders after the experience, giving them the best version of Mrs. Rentz yet!!
