It's important to learn the skills to recall information and details from a text. We also talk about point of view, making predictions and learn new vocabulary words while reading. \r\n\r\nReading in my classroom can look different depending on the day. Sometimes my students read independently or with a partner, but I have found that what they enjoy most when I do a novel study in my classroom is to gather on the carpet and have the story read to them. Reading aloud a story allows student to learn fluency and models for them how to pronounce words properly and to not \"read like a robot\".
