Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a proud teacher of 21 wonderful kindergarten students in a Dual Language program, at a Title I school in the suburbs of Chicago. For my students, I am their first experience in school and a very important year in providing opportunities in creating long-lasting skills that will provide the base of their education.
Despite their living arrangements, including homeless and foster homes, my students come to school eager to learn, work hard, and feel welcomed in a safe and engaging environment.
As their teacher, I have promised to do anything I can to make these goals realistic, by providing them an engaging positive environment to thrive!
My Project
I chose Promethean because of its high standards of equipment and teaching! The company is offering free professional development and tons of Apps and website accessibility, such as ClassFlow, in which teachers will be able to access a huge range of educational resources.
I will be able to share lesson content with students working from home and Students will have the chance to complete tasks and work with each other and myself, through the Cloud to ensure that learning continues during this closure.
Once we go back to school, the board will re-home itself in our classroom which will serve as an interactive smart board, allowing up to 15 students to be hands-on during lessons! In addition, this will also serve as a great tool in the future to include students that are home ill or travel plans that might take them out of the classroom. Hopefully, curving our truancy rates as they notice how much fun school is!
There are many benefits to Virtual Learning, such as prepared lessons for my students can be placed for them in a virtual location where my students can easily access them and practice. The smartboard brings lessons to life! I am hoping to alleviate the number of paper copies for my students and create lessons that include videos, readings, online collaborative work, virtual discussions, project-based, and more.
