My amazing students are already at a socioeconomic risk, the opportunity to have access to these materials will give them the same opportunities given to other Kindergarteners in IL, that is my promise. As their teacher, I am very dedicated in providing those experiences, but currently, I am lacking a Spanish classroom library, and manipulatives that would support our rigorous literacy block. The leveled books, bilingual board book sets, unifix cubes, Letter Construction Activity Sets and other items I am requesting are a good start in providing a rigorous literacy block for my beautiful students with hopes and dreams. Presently, the library that was given to me is in English, so all the standards we have been practicing in SLA is applicable but without the proper tools, thus being Spanish literature, their is no means to practice. Therefore, "read on your own" becomes stressful and avoidable many times. I know that these materials will provide the opportunity for engagement, practice, and enjoyment. My ultimate goal=love of reading!
