Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 1st graders love to read - and they are good at it! At school, they can check out 1 book from the library every other week and our public library is not within walking distance. My students need and want more books!
My students are 1st graders who love to learn!
Our class is made up of 10 boys and 9 girls. Our small school is a kind and caring learning environment. We have received the honors of Title 1 High Achieving School and California Distinguished School.
My Project
The books with cds that I am requesting will be used as a take home library. Each student will take home 1 book/cd each week to read at home with their family. These books will positively reinforce student and family literacy. This is particularly important since each student now has the opportunity to take home a maximum of 2 books per month from our school library.
Becoming a fluent reader is only possible through practice.
This take home library will offer my students the opportunity to practice their reading at home every week with their families.
