Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are creative kids with lots of ideas, but they lack the resources to keep them motivated. I teach at a low income, Title I school where the majority of the students receive free lunch. I teach in a dual-language program in which all of my students speak Spanish as their first language.

My Project

The new school year is bringing up lots of questions on what it's going to look like. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we'll be doing some in-class learning and some distance learning.

My students are ready to learn, but they need the materials to do so.

When we're in school, we usually share the basic materials such as pencils, whiteboard markers, and erasers. In order to keep our germs to ourselves and also have these same materials for at-home distance learning, I'm creating take home kits of all the materials students would need in-class to keep at home.

Different colored pens help us with editing, whiteboards and whiteboard markers help us show our work in math, and crayons and glue sticks help us in art. Notebooks provide paper for note taking and folders help us stay organized with all of our writing papers. All of these materials together create an At Home Kit that will help my students be successful at both home and school!
