My students are native Spanish speakers in a bilingual classroom. Our school is a low-income, Title 1 school where majority of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Third grade is a transitional year in which the curriculum changes from mostly Spanish to mostly English. During this transition, students need the opportunity to practice their English aloud in a safe environment.
