Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a kindergarten teacher in a Title 1 school. My students are enthusiastic readers at school. Reading books on their own level builds their confidence and allows them to enjoy reading for others. Most of my students come from low-income homes where the parents can't afford to purchase beginning reading books and don't have the transportation to make a trip to a public library. I would love to have some black & white take-home books that are inexpensive so that each student could have 20 books to keep at home and use to practice their reading skills. These books would not be returned to school, but kept at home. Not only would my students benefit from the books, but siblings could use them and Hispanic parents could also practice reading them as they learn the English language. The set of 400 books include 20 copies of 20 different books. Please consider funding this worthwhile proposal. These books will help instill a love of reading in 19 emerging readers.
