The primary intent was to provide a sensory experience and exposure to gardening, including growing food. It has achieved those goals and so much more! Our Sensory Garden has become the showcase for our school. Every visitor to our school has the opportunity to tour the garden and always leaves impressed. Every staff member - administration, teachers, cafeteria, custodial - has taken a keen interest in the garden. The garden has actually given our school a common project to support. \r\n\r\nWe have established a schedule so each class has a 30 minute visit to the garden each week. The children examine the plants with magnifying glasses, they touch and smell the herbs and flowers. They use watering cans to water the plants and they absolutely love the waterfall fountain! Students and teachers from all grade levels, including our special needs classes, share their discoveries. Siblings across across grade levels tell each other (and their families) about their garden visits. Our Sensory Garden has truly made springtime a time of wonder at our school. Thank you so much for providing this great opportunity for our school.","fullyFundedDate":1740940526236,"projectUrl":"project/growing-growing-ahhhh/9118329/","projectTitle":"Growing, Growing, Ahhhh!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stubbs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5394103_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1527212850787","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sbstubbs"},{"teacherId":6906961,"projectId":9255208,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations, I was able to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for all participants.\r\n\r\nThe \"Books and Blankets\" initiative was led by our students and it was a blast!\r\nStudents gathered in our library, and got to choose a free book, a blanket, a small animal as reading buddy, sunglasses and an animal mask and which helped to offer an engaging way to share with other peers. \r\n\r\nThis event helped our students develop their leadership skills, and foster a spirit of collaboration and kindness.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donations our students got resources that helped create a comfortable and inviting space for students to gather, read, enjoy each other's company and allow the students to fostering a love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1745355727284,"projectUrl":"project/books-and-blankets-a-community-literacy/9255208/","projectTitle":"Books and Blankets: A Community Literacy Event","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Shannon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6906961_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651104868872","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6906961"},{"teacherId":6906961,"projectId":9265986,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations I was able to give my students a reward for their academic achievement and improvement.\r\n\r\nBy having this fun end of year \"reward for all the hard work\" party my students were able to recharge and feel excited towards all their accomplishments.
