My students need an iPad that can be used with our Eno board. It will help to display videos about different things we are studying and use different apps too.
Eager students make eager learners! Students who have resources available to them can make the most of their education. Technology is all around us, it needs to be utilized the right way in the classroom. Studying different subjects using resources available on the Internet enhances the learning.
The students in my classroom primarily live in an area that was highly affected by Superstorm Sandy.
They lost their homes, their computers, and family members. Now 2 years later, some are finally moving back but the availability of technology in their homes is still scarce. The ability to bring technology into the classroom would really boost their interest in science, social studies, math and reading. To be able to show them the countries we are studying and use apps on the iPad that assist in reinforcing skills taught in class would really help. Teaching nonfiction to my students that is supplemented by a real life video would really help the learning process. Some of my students have learning disabilities and learn in different ways. An iPad will allow these different learning styles to be supported.
My Project
The iPad would be used to display different materials found on the Internet. I would put the iPad onto the document camera and it would be displayed onto the Eno board. The children could actively participate in games and apps that I find which are appropriate to what we are learning. Donorschoose has supported my projects in the past. This is the second iPad I am asking for. The first one lasted 2 years, but the screen cracked twice and I replaced it. With this iPad I am requesting a protection plan that would help because the children handle the iPad.
The project would make a difference to my students because they can actively participate in their learning.
They can also use it to help find resources when they are studying subjects that we don't really have books on in the classroom. Using an iPad is a new experience to the students and it helps them stay interested in what is being studied.
