Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The population range of our students is from poor to middle class within the school and the school district. The school is the oldest African American high school and has a proud and supportive alumni who continue to assist with keeping up with the school's integrity and tradition. The students are very tech savvy and are very open-minded in learning foreign music. Students who have been placed in some of the music classes offered at the school have expressed their interest in music technology. The students seek lessons that are more engaging through technology based music instruction.

My Project

The guitar program is consistently growing every year at our school. The guitar program has become more popular among the student body and has increased the need for lessons. Since the guitar program is becoming more evident as a program, more resources are needed. The students are in need of music stands to hold their books and music during instruction and for future performances. The music stands will assist in correcting the student's posture and will allow students to see the music, resources, and method books more efficiently. The stands are lightweight and easy to move back and forth for instruction and performances.
