Many of them stopped in their tracks to take in the vibrant images and powerful quotes, their eyes wide with interest. Some students began pointing out familiar figures and discussing their significance, while others seemed deeply moved by the stories displayed. It sparked spontaneous conversations and questions, with students eager to learn more about the historical figures and events featured. Overall, the poster seemed to ignite a sense of pride and respect, prompting them to reflect on the importance of Black history in shaping the world today.\r\n\r\nMy students are actively engaging with the Black History posters, using them as a source of inspiration and learning. They often gather around the posters during class discussions, pointing out different figures and historical moments, and sharing what they've learned. Some students take notes on the key facts, while others are drawing connections to current events or their own experiences. The posters have sparked an interest in research, with many students asking for more resources to dive deeper into the stories of the individuals highlighted. It's clear that the posters have become a valuable tool for fostering understanding and sparking important conversations about history, culture, and identity in their classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1727382650234,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-black-history-cultivating-re/8483090/","projectTitle":"Empowering Black History: Cultivating Resilient Mindsets for a Brighter Future","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Tracy Holmes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2967823_orig.jpg?crop=724,724,x181,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1672305921267","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dr-holmes"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_49391","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":856,"numTeachers":53,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":94,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":61.9,"schoolId":49391,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Booker Washington High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Booker Washington High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/atlanta-public-schools/booker-t-washington-high-school/49391"}
