Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My English students are imaginative, thoughtful, and deeply curious about the world. They love diving into stories, debating big ideas, and expressing their unique voices through writing. What I love most is watching their confidence grow as they discover the power of their own words. They bring an incredible spark to every literary discussion, and they deserve a physical environment that mirrors the value and importance of their ideas.

Currently, our classroom relies on outdated, worn-out furniture that has simply seen better days.

Wobbly, old rolling desks create a constant physical distraction during quiet reading time and intense writing sessions. Upgrading our space with these new resources will transform how my students engage with English:

Sturdy New Desks: Smooth, level surfaces provide the proper foundation for dedicated essay writing, journaling, and close-reading annotating. Replacing our broken, wobbly desks eliminates daily disruptions so students can fully immerse themselves in literature.

Standard Classroom Chairs: Durable, reliable chairs give students a stable and comfortable seat every day. Replacing cracked or squeaky seating prevents physical discomfort and restlessness, allowing students to stay focused during silent reading blocks and writing workshops.

Storage Cabinet: A central, organized cabinet will store our growing class library, student writing portfolios, and shared editing supplies. Having dedicated space keeps our novel sets safe, reduces clutter, and allows students to independently access materials for independent reading and writing projects.

By replacing our worn-out furniture, you are giving these young writers and readers a reliable space where they feel valued, comfortable, and ready to create.
