My first grade is comprised of 21 amazing students, many whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced priced lunch.
My first grade students are a group of children who come to school every morning excited to learn and be a part of our classroom community.
Their kindness and love for one another makes our classroom environment truly something special.
My students love for learning is shown throughout the day as they go from 6 year old students and transform into mini authors, illustrators, mathematicians, athletes, artists, composers, and scientists. They love to be active, tell stories, socialize with their friends, be shown love and support and they LOVE to read a good book. Whether it be a great story that makes them laugh or a text that gives them information about something they want to learn more about, they are fully engaged. These students are the reason why I love and enjoy what I do teaching our future.
My Project
Having a class set of large, sturdy book bins will take away the frustration of students' flimsy cardboard book bins falling apart and put the focus back on more time devoted to diving into a good book!
As a first grade teacher, I work every day with my students on building their literacy skills.
A major part of first grade is learning to read and enjoy reading. Our students use their book bins as mini libraries to hold all their books. Their current cardboard bins are falling apart and many are unusable. With your donation, my students will have a wonderful place to store their individual books.
