This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go."--Dr. Seuss
Our students love to read.
They are passionate about learning. Our students find most joy learning through stories. They are explorers of books and they love finding ways to make connections from what they are learning and reading to their own experiences.
My Project
In the 5th grade classroom our students love to read. As we build our classroom library we want to make sure that what our students are reading not only bring them joy, but also bring rigor and skills that will help them succeed in their academic career. Many of our students are language learners so to be able to help them not only learn a new language but to do so with literature that is rich with vocabulary will allow for authentic learning.
Reading makes a difference in our students' lives.
It determines how they live, what career they have, where they might end up in this world. Reading also allows for our students to learn in ways that are best taught through a story. We wish to make our students well-rounded scholars. Providing books that will interest our students will not only help them learn the skills they need to succeed in their academic career but also help find that one book that will help them fall in love with reading.
