My Students

Each day I have an amazing opportunity to grow, laugh, explore, and experience new learning concepts with 22 bright and full of life nine/ten year olds.

My students are part of a learning community which focuses on leadership skills and deeper learning in the core subjects.

They work each day sharing ideas, collaborating as a team, and building on knowledge through hands-on experiences. The students in my classroom are always eager to ask questions and learn from their mistakes through the learning process.

This is my first year teaching fourth grade. Most of my teaching experiences have been in primary grades. I do not have a lot of reading materials to meet the reading needs and interests of my older students.

My Project

The love of learning does not come easy to most students. I want to give my students as much as possible to make reading more engaging and accessible.

This project will give my students more access to chapter books at their interest level.

As well as increasing and growing my classroom library I would like to have a class set of flashlights. Every Friday I will be having "Flashlight Friday" where students read in the dark, which will increase student engagement.

At lot of my students have a hard time focusing and staying on task. I want to have bouncy bands attached to their chairs to help them wiggle and increase moment when they have to stay in their space to read.
