This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Within our modern history curriculum, the usage of primary sources has become the ultimate tool to get students to truly understand the history of America, along with promoting their critical thinking skills by looking at sources that offer multiple perspectives from the past.

With the modern day issue of lower reading scores, dictionaries are even more critical in aiding students to disseminate and understand the complex language of the past.

Students who do not come to school with a wider vocabulary often can not comprehend the sources we are using in class without aid. Dictionaries are a tried and true method of helping us expand vocabulary and understand the multiple uses of certain words and phrases, allowing students better comprehension and expanding their vocabularies for their future success.

My students also come from households where English is not the first language spoken, and have to work even harder to understand the materials presented to them.
