This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a school social worker who loves teaching students ways to help them regulate their emotions. My students with whom I work are tenacious, creative, caring, and want to do well in school. At times, they have behavioral issues or social-emotional concerns that impact their ability to succeed in their classroom.

As a school social worker, I provide support and a safe space to listen and provide students with tools and strategies to help them regulate their emotions.

I believe in my students and their resiliency.

My Project

I am asking for an iPad to bring technology and creativity into my school counseling program. More and more often, I find myself saying “How did I ever do this without the internet?” For instance, when I am wondering where the next gas station or restaurant is, ordering a pizza, learning a new home improvement project on youtube, etc… However, there is nowhere I find myself saying this more than in my job as a school social worker. Elementary students love using iPads, and there are many apps that are perfect for teaching skills such as mindfulness, anger management, feelings vocabulary, stress management, etc.
