Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I used to greet my students with a high 5 every morning as they entered my classroom. It gave me the opportunity to see their smile the first thing in the morning. It also gave me the opportunity to notice a new haircut, new shoes, and any recently lost teeth! I still greet them first thing in the morning with virtual high fives, virtual hugs, waves, and heart fingers! This is truly the best part of my day!
The second best part of my day is our 1:00 read aloud, we all love to get lost in a good book!
My students love our read-alouds. Sometimes during a math lesson they will raise their hand and ask me what book I plan to read them. I always tell them they have to come back at 1:00, but that it's one of my favorites! They say I say that about EVERY book! It's true! I absolutely have so many favorites!
My Project
As you can see I LOVE books, and I love reading aloud. I share many of my favorite reading books with my students every afternoon. There is nothing better than getting lost in a good book.
The Little Free Library will give all the students in our community the opportunity to free books every single day.
I have selected a few book titles that my students have enjoyed reading to put in the Little Free Library as a start. Then, every student will be able to use the free library to take a free book, and it will also give them the opportunity to recycle their old books by leaving them for others to read. Thank you for helping me make free books available for my entire community!
