The 6 first grade classrooms at my school need National Geographic Kids Activity Cards about birds, sea and land animals to go along with our TAG Reading Systems.
Hello! I am 1 of 6 first grade teachers at an amazing public school in beautiful Western North Carolina.
North Carolina made some very difficult budget cuts this year to education which greatly impacted the amount of money available for classroom needs. We have done our best to share resources but we still need some additional materials to make this year successful and exciting for all our students.
Here's where YOU can help!
Each of our first grade classrooms have at least 1 LeapFrog Tag reader. We would like to purchase a set of National Geographic Land Animal and a set of National Geographic Bird and Sea Animal interactive cards for each classroom.
Each of these sets contain over 40 interactive activity cards featuring National Geographic pictures of animals that come to life with the touch of the Tag Reader. Students will hear amazing animal sounds, learn fun facts and read new vocabulary words on each card. These cards also reinforce our science and geography topics taught in class. Young children are naturally intrigued by animals and animal facts. Very early on children begin to categorize animals by species and learn interesting facts about them. This early interest in animals provides the motivation for later work in life sciences. When children first learn about world geography it is often in terms of the habitat of different animals. Children may then develop a desire to go on to learn about the different countries around the world, the different types of flora and fauna and the cultures of the people who live there.
Please help provide these interesting and interactive sets for each of our 6 first grade classrooms so our children can hear and see the sounds of far away animals and experience the wonders of our amazing world.
