I am an Occupational Therapist working with preschool students. My students are identified as having special education needs. I work in a public preschool, within a school district. These thirteen wonderful students are busy bees, working, learning, exploring and having fun in a safe environment.
My kids work so hard each day to meet their goals.
They love hands-on, sensory-based materials to make learning fun. They love to come to school to learn how to play with their friends and sing songs.
My Project
My students struggle with staying regulated, calm and safe during the day. These sensory tools (dough, buttons and gears) will help to reduce distraction, improve concentration and attention to tasks by allowing the brain to filter out the excess sensory information.
These sensory toys will help my students increase their ability to explore their immediate environment with less hesitation.
The students are so eager to learn and play. These toys will also act as a powerful reinforcers (rewards) for hard work and effort.
I know my students will be more engaged with these sensory items. My students are truly my inspiration and I love to work with them on a day to day basis.
