My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds. Our school often has the greatest ethnic diversity of all the schools in the state. The majority of them receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school encourages project-based learning, especially those activities that promote the development of 21st-century skills.

Our school is very unique because along with the core academic course of English, History, Science, and Math, students participate in an Exploration class where they are asked to investigate and dive into STEM topics or Global Studies projects.

are challenged. Students are asked to use the inquiry method in order to explore formidable and industrious themes. They are further incited to conceive and construct elaborate projects that demonstrate what they learned.

Special Education students are integrated into our classes with support. Students get modified work and/or curriculum. They have many different accommodations and modifications listed in their Individual Education Plans. Besides adhering to these, students often benefit from a different style of teaching, specifically a more hands-on approach.

My Project

This is our culminating project after reading "The Omnivore's Dilemma." Students have been learning about the supply of food, the cultural aspects of food, making healthy choices as well as the various aspects of generating a marketing plan for a business. They will be using this project to learn about marketing strategies and working collaboratively.

Students have looked forward to this project as an opportunity to express their creativity and are genuinely excited to engage in project-based learning.

The idea was generated by our team and we have managed to generate a ton of excitement.

This is a very artistic and creative group of students who have asked great questions during our reading and discussion times. I really look forward to seeing what they produce. Trucks will be displayed throughout the school and students will also be given opportunities to make their "sales pitches" to students and administrators.
