My Students
My students are super creative and talented beings. They love new challenges and are eager to immerse themselves into a "learning through discovery" environment, an atmosphere that I strive to create and foster in the classroom. My students are passionate musicians who are learning how to become story-tellers and artists through their love of music and arts. They come to class every day ready to make connections with themselves and others through affective learning goals. However, my students also struggle with staying on task and accountability. I'd like to foster these characteristic traits because I believe it is a necessity for them in the long run.
My Project
As my students and I move into a new school year of Remote Learning, it would be super helpful to have the right technology to support our learning. "Sibelius" is one of the best music writing programs that will allow students to build on their creativity while acquiring computer skills necessary for those who are interested in majoring in music. Teaching in a performing arts high school, the majority of my students graduate to pursue music. Having the experience with this program gives my students a peak into the real world and will allow them to build new music projects throughout their high school career. In addition to the computer software, I want to build a learning environment that's conducive to remote learning. Asking students and teachers to sit for hours upon hours in front of a screen, at a desk, lends itself to health concerns down the road. Having a standing desk in the classroom, along with the correct technology of a wireless mouse and keyboard, will allow students and teachers to stretch their spines, muscles, and allow us to breathe and think better.
