My students need tablets in the classroom to enhance learning in the 21st Century Technology Environment. The classroom rotates though learning stations and tablets will keep them engaged while working on Reading and Math Apps.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our classroom is a fun, energetic, safe, and welcoming learning environment for first grade students and families. We are very active and engaged when it comes to our learning. My students are my family! They are children that walk through the classroom door with smiles on their faces eager to be a part of something. I greet each one individually with a hug every morning. Many have experienced things some can only imagine. I have the opportunity to make them forget about those if only for a little bit.

My Project

Tablets will allow my students to practice necessary skills in Math and Reading. My students work in small reading and math groups daily. When they are not in the teacher led group, they are required to work individually. It is often difficult to make these centers engaging. Having specific apps on a tablet that will be tailored to individual needs will meet this goal.

My students enjoy activities that are interesting and fun.

By providing a technology center with tablets, students will be able to practice phonics, comprehension, and writing skills in Reading. They will also practice common core math skills. The tablets will also provide the knowledge of working with technology which will be useful outside of the classroom as well.
