Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
New educational technology is everywhere. Accessing the programs on a regular basis can be tricky. Being able to implement useful software that is engaging, and provides a teacher with meaningful feedback is a luxury that can be a reality with iPads in the classroom.
My class is composed of students with varying backgrounds.
For many of my students, English is only spoken and heard while they are at school. They come to school eager to learn and love to be challenged. Our school is culturally diverse, as well as economically diverse. Many students do not have access to technology at home.
My Project
Having the iPads will allow me to provide my students with many opportunities to individualize their learning by with more practice with math facts, reading and using interactive learning applications during literacy and math work stations. Struggling students will be able to practice skills, hear texts read fluently and will be able to record and hear themselves reading. Many applications provide meaningful data that will be used to drive further instruction, while making interventions fun and interactive. Students who are ready for enrichment activities will benefit in a similar way. Students will also have a new way to "report" on books by writing scripts for book reviews and recording their creations!
Donations to this project will allow my students to practice skills, be creative, and play while learning.
The possibilities are endless for what students will be able to do with these tools.
