My students need these tablets due to our shortage of classroom computers. The tablets will be used for phonics reinforcement, research for project-based learning and access to intervention programs that are designed to provide additional practice on skills.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have the privilege of teaching 1st grade at an inner city Title I school. I teach all subjects to a self-contained class. This is my ninth year teaching and my second year teaching second grade. I am super excited about this year of teaching and learning for my students. I'm so humbled and honored to be part of such an influential and important part of life for my students and their families. Our classroom is our home away from home and a place where we listen, love, laugh and learn as a family!

My Project

These tablets will provide much needed technology for my students right inside our classroom. My students will be afforded an opportunity to practice their phonics, reading, and comprehension skills. Students will also use the tablets to collaborate with their peers to complete research based projects. I hope to see growth in my students' assessment scores and to watch them build their confidence in reading with increases in their Accelerated Reader points.

Technology in my classroom will provide additional exposure to many things for my students and give them opportunities to peer tutor each other!

My students will have access to the world around them without leaving our classroom.
