My students are really embracing the notion that reading takes them on adventures, and I would like to provide more adventures for them to share through their love of reading. I have noticed that these titles are quite popular among their grade/age group. They read every available moment they have during restroom breaks, lunch, recess, extension time, in between tasks and during dismissal. I am really astonished at how much they are enjoying and growing as readers. I often share and model my love for reading with my students and how reading can take the reader on an amazingly wonderful adventure! The items that I am requesting funding for are the entire series of The Magic Tree House book and a set of Dairy of a Wimpy Kid books. My students usually check these books out from our school library and there usually are not available the entire class. I think having a classroom set will provide instant access to these books and more time to read them and as a result increase their Accelerated Reader points and interest in reading.
