This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are third graders. They are primarily minorities, many living in poverty.
Most of my students are not proficient readers, but all of my students aim to be.
All of my students want to succeed. All of my students have a desire to learn. All of my students have dreams.
While they may not realize it at this moment, they have the keys to unlock the gates of generational poverty, the reach to close the achievement gap, and the hearts to change the world.
My Project
These Kindle Fires will allow my students to access books and learning apps that they otherwise would not be able to utilize. With the Kindle Fire tablets, my students will be excited to learn. As we know, all children learn differently and it is my job as their teacher to help them best access the material; this is one way for me to do just that.
Learning happens organically when we are having fun.
Using the tablets during workstations as a listening center, or for collaborative work, will provide my students with a new medium for learning. My students will have fun and learn simultaneously with access to a tablet curated for their learning needs.
