My Students

As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Our school qualifies as a Title I school where 100% of the students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program. The majority of my students participate in the back snack program, which provides them with food to take home for the weekend. Despite the many challenges they face, I work my hardest every day to provide my kindergarten students with the best and safest classroom experience and education I can.

My students deserve to have positive, creative, and meaningful learning experiences.

They are sweet kids that like to move, are eager to learn, and love positive praise and attention. My students want to be successful both inside and outside of the classroom. I love seeing their smiling faces and enthusiasm as they show growth in reading, writing, and math, as well as developmentally and socially. We are a great community of lifelong learners!

My Project

At our high poverty school, very few children in kindergarten have access to any kind of technology devices at home. I am asking for help to obtain 10 tablets for my students to use in the classroom. This technology will help them access educational apps to enhance not only their literacy and math skills but to make it a fun learning experience using 21st century learning on a tablet.

Today, technology has become such an integral part of our curriculum.

My students need tablets which will allow for independent learning and practice of unconditional skills. Students will be able to listen to stories, practice tracing their numbers, trace their letters, and so much more! Using tablets in the classroom will make learning exciting and engaging. Effective practice and success help to build student confidence and a passion for learning.
