Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students love to learn! This is an exciting year for them, full of growth. So much is new, like writing letters and words, counting, learning to sit at a desk and line up, and meeting lots of new friends!
Kindergarteners enter school with excitement, a willingness to take risks, and a lot of joy.
I love seeing them learn how to read, write, work with others, and think deeply about the world.
This year our class has learned about how to be a good friend, how to solve problems, and warmly welcomed new students throughout the year. They are a caring group of kids who deserve a nurturing, friendly environment.
My Project
My students are learning their letters and sounds, sight words, and learning how to read. In the present day and age, it is imperative for students to learn how to use varying types of technology, and not all kids have access to this at home. After acquiring two tablets form an earlier Donor's Choose project, I noticed how engaged and excited students were when using this technology. They can practice literacy skills, listen to a variety of books read aloud, and learn collaboration and cooperation by using a tablet with a friend.
I want to provide my students with tablets to increase the options in my classroom, support varying learning styles, and teach students how to use technology from a young age.
The two tablets I have have greatly increased engagement and provided students an option that is different from the rest of the learning day when they need it. My students will be so excited if more of them have the opportunity to use this technology for learning!
