My Students

"Let's travel the world... all before lunch!" I want to give students the opportunity to travel the world, via online applications and video, to see and write about life beyond that of their present knowledge and experiences.

My students are from a small town in Pennsylvania.

I was shocked to learn last week that many of the 120 children I teach each day have never left our county. Their idea of a vacation includes traveling an hour down the road to a local state park. Over 50% of the school students receive free or reduced-lunch. The community simply does not have the resources to provide funding to provide "Out of this world" experiences.

My Project

Allowing students the opportunity to place a tablet in their hands will do several things. First, students will have the opportunity to take virtual tours of thousands of locations around the world. Secondly, students will also be given the opportunity to use current technology to experience a world outside of their own. Lastly, students will creatively write to inspire their future goals/travels in life.

I sincerely believe this opportunity will allow my classroom to improve upon their writing and open their eyes to a world of art, architecture, museums, and dreams.
