My Project
A positive learning environment is critical for a successful classroom. While a matching, theme-driven, Pinterest classroom might be ideal, it is not possible for all. For my first 9 years of teaching, I have “made it work” over and over again, making do with what we had to support upwards of 30 kindergarteners. As an adult who thrives in a comfortable, welcoming environment, I believe strongly that the success of my students starts when they arrive in a classroom that says, you are safe here.
My tables have been covered and recovered to the point that our writing surfaces are starting to get ragged, sticky, and uneven.
(Turns out the contact paper trend TikTok told us would solve all our problems wasn’t exactly the miracle answer).
This set of tables would provide some flexibility for my students. The clover style allows for students to have a workspace that feels like theirs while still allowing them to sit in a group and continue to grow their social skills. As a left-handed friend myself, allowing students to write without worrying about elbow bumping or being in another friend's space is also important. While the investment is considerably costly, these tables will last for years to come.
A positive learning environment stems from so much more than just the furniture you provide and the color scheme you create. After years of work cultivating an environment that invites students into my classroom and makes them feel like family, through love, community, positivity, routine, procedures, planning, creating, and so much more. I feel confident that this purchase feels necessary and beneficial to my continuously growing classroom.
