In my classroom, our circle time is the most popular time of the day. In our circle, we learn all of the core subjects together using techniques like turn and talks, standing and addressing the class, and teamwork activities. All together, we start our day with a family meeting, celebrating each other and sharing important information, and we end our day talking about our successes, how we worked hard, and what we can improve. Together we can dive into read aloud stories and share our ideas and opinions. A classroom rug will make learning time, sharing time and these adventures that my kindergarteners and I go on together more effective. I want to provide my students with comfort in their own space, in my classroom, and with opportunities to learn in the best environment I can provide them. My students do not always come from positive backgrounds and healthy household situations. I want my classroom to be a safe, comfortable haven for them. A classroom rug will become a focal point for students to know that they can safely gather here, share their ideas, and be part of a family.
