My Students

The students at my school come from a lower socio-economic background. And as many studies show, students who come from backgrounds like these students do not have all of the resources available to become life-long learners.

With a high turnover rate, students may be at school one day and then not the rest of the week; we aim to teach them as much as possible in the time we have them.

In this part of town, the zone for the school is so small, 85% of the students walk to school or are dropped off by parents. We have one school bus that transports students. Since Covid-19 has entered our lives, we have had major issues with attendance and tardiness.

My Project

My students all come from low-income houses, and as such most of them have no access to gaming systems. With the changing sport environment, and the growing Esports world I want to provide these students with the same opportunities. This device and controllers would allow students to learn and practice in an after school club.

Esports have blown up, and some of the best players are in middle and high school.

My students are at a direct disadvantage because of their lack of experience. Students begin competing against other schools as early as middle school, so my 5th graders are in dire need of the proper tools to learn this skill.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
