Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have very big hearts and truly make due with what they have. For some school is their safe haven from extremely poverty stricken and violent homes. My students are in a very low income community. They are kind and loving but may not get all the things they need. I have more girls than boys in the group I have now and they are very helpful. I have really gotten to know these students well in the last few months. I have already learned that I have children who come from needy families. Some of my children come from split families where they may or may not see one or both parents. I am very lucky to be able to touch these kiddos lives. They are very creative and love to be able to explore their learning world through my classroom.

Each child in the class has his or her own unique personality that has really brought our community together.

They are very creative and are starting to really enjoy the academic world and are improving every day.

My Project

Every school year is a struggle for the students that I work with. Their families cannot afford the very expensive supplies that they need to have in order to be successful. The things such as crayons and notebooks are the last things on their minds when they want to provide shelter and food for their children. I am creating this project so that my students can start the school year off to a great start with out the financial stresses.

The items in my project are supplies that are essential for starting off the school year in a warm and caring environment.

Things such as school supplies, cleaning supplies and items to make our classroom beautiful are essential for the start up of our classroom. Crayons, markers, notebooks, tape and glue are items that parents do not have to worry about if my project is funded.

The state I work in has made major cuts in education this year and this is limiting the quality of the supplies that we get for our students. This would call for more parent involvement to purchase some of these items. As I stated before the average home in the school that I work in is under the poverty level. I want to lower the parent contributions so that they can provide for their children in other ways.
