Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our community school is very diverse where many backgrounds and languages are represented. For most of our students, English is not the primary language. As a result, our students face challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face on an every day basis, my school is always looking to provide our students with meaningful learning experiences.
As Albert Einstein said, "The only source of knowledge is experience." Learning needs to be an active process.
It is my goal as an educator to help my students not only reach the next reading level, but to keep my students motivated to learn.
My Project
Since we are a PBIS school, as part of our positive behavior program my students can earn points through Classdojo. These points are earned when students show positive behaviors. At the end of two weeks, the earned points are translated into money. With the money earned, my students can shop in our classroom store. Since we are more than halfway through the school year, our supply of sweet treats is running low. The large candy that I am requesting such as the various chocolate bars would be added to our large candy bin since that seems to be a class favorite. The smaller candy bin would be filled with lollipops and airheads. All of these sweet treats would be available for my students to purchase in our classroom store.
