My Project

My first-grade students are eager to make a difference beyond our classroom walls! Through this project, they will take the lead in planning, organizing, and assembling snack care packages filled with a variety of treats.

Describe the student-led activity: Students will actively lead a “Kindness Snack Pack Drive,” where they will assemble and distribute snack bags (candies and cookies and all the other items requested) to others in need.

They will take ownership by organizing materials, counting and dividing items, and preparing thoughtful messages. Once completed, students will help distribute the snack packs to members of our school community such as office staff, custodians, and students who may need extra support, as well as local community helpers. This hands-on activity empowers students to practice empathy, teamwork, and leadership while giving back.

2. Define the community you seek to serve:

Our project will serve both our school community and the surrounding neighborhood. Within our school, snack packs will support students who may not always have access to extra food during the day. In the broader community, we aim to share these snack packs with local helpers and families in need. This initiative will spread kindness, boost morale, and help meet small but meaningful needs through thoughtful giving.

3. Explain how the materials will help students lead:

The requested snacks, drinks, and treats—are essential for students to successfully carry out this initiative. The variety and quantity of items will allow each student to participate in assembling multiple snack packs, ensuring equitable involvement. Pre-packaged snacks make it easy and safe for students to handle, sort, and distribute. These materials will transform a simple idea into a meaningful, student-led service project where every child plays an active role in giving back.
