This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the privilege of working with a highly diverse group of thoughtful and creative students. Our school is in the heart of Pittsburgh where one-third of our population are emergent multilingual learners who represent 18 countries and speak 14 different languages.
I am inspired every day by my students’ willingness to take risks in order to grow personally and as global citizens.
I am their teacher, but my students have taught me many lessons through their patience, persistence, and innovation.
My Project
Funding this project will help our elementary school restock our uniform closet for winter. With a fully stocked uniform closet, students will be able to come to school, receive a uniform and be ready to learn without this barrier getting in their way.
Clean and comfortable clothing is a basic need that every child deserves access to.
Also, our school requires that students come in uniform, therefore we try to supply them if students need a new one. Fresh and warm clothes can make all the difference to a child. Appearances and comfort can affect our students' confidence- please help our children dress for success!
