Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I will be teaching fourth grade. Many of my students are from impoverished families. For them, school is an escape from reality. I often refer to my students affectionately as "my kids."

Once they set foot in my classroom, they become a part of my family.

My school is based on this principle, kids are here to learn and sometimes that means they learn how special and loved they really are. I teach a range of academic levels, and my students come from a variety of backgrounds with a variety of interests. It is my wish that all of my students feel like they belong in my classroom, and they are provided with opportunities to be successful.

My Project

Being eco-friendly or environmentally friendly is becoming more and more important. As our population grows and natural resources become more depleted, it's up to us to do our part to find and use alternative fuels, recycle our papers, plastics and metals, and in general, lead a more sustainable lifestyle.

I believe that children are our future, and it is important to teach our children about living a sustainable lifestyle to help ensure our planet's sustainability for future generations.

The books requested will be used in my classroom to teach my students the importance of sustainable living and what they can do to live a more sustainable life. Additionally, the books will be used to help guide my students participation in eco-friendly projects.
