My Students

The students that our school serves are specifically designated as behavioral students. Our school provides surrounding schools an opportunity to send their most difficult and challenging students to our program for support. These students are low socioeconomic and we currently have a 95% free and reduced lunch population. Unfortunately for many of our students, their behavior has prohibited them from appropriate social relationships, skill development, and academic success.

Our students are in desperate need of social and independent living supports to help promote independence.

We work to provide learning experiences that go beyond traditional education models. Sadly, our school is the last step in the process before the juvenile justice system or hospitalization. Through the development of positive relationships and engaging and unique learning experiences, we strive to reach these students when everyone else has cast them aside.

My Project

The egg incubator and growing systems will be utilized by the students for hands on learning applications as well as core-content supplementary aid. Students will learn about both animal and plant reproduction and receive applicable life skill knowledge. Specifically speaking, students will learn about sustainable living models by developing cyclical processes that replenish their supply to promote longevity.

While the learning is our key area of focus, this project will do so much more.

With our resources we will be able to provide our students and their families with sustainable food sources during times of need. Because most of our student population comes from low socioeconomic status, eggs, chickens, and grown vegetables will be available to them. This will help support healthy eating habits as well as supporting families of our school district. Any additional product will provide community service opportunities through food bank donations.
