Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

March 12, 2020. The last day that I saw my students in class. March 13th was scheduled as a teacher professional development and parent/teacher conferences day. Conferences were canceled. Teachers used that day to create work packets and Google Classrooms.

Transitioning to remote learning has not been easy.

Students do not have the supplies necessary to complete their work. Many rely on school as a place for food, safety, social-emotional-mental supports, and connections. Most of my students are seniors. Their last high school memories have been postponed or canceled.

Your donations will help give them memories of kind people who donated so they would have the materials they needed to learn while at home. This would help to alleviate some of their stress. From science kits to books, basic school supplies to hygiene products, you will provide them with the means to be successful, no matter where they are learning.

My Project

Surveys are in! As each of my students' needs is unique, I created a survey so they could have a voice when I created these projects.

Surveys say: science and art kits are a priority.

These items have been chosen by my students. Several were interested in various STEM/STEAM kits for building and creating. Students will explore engineering, earth science, and electricity with these kits. Students will create their own erasers with the eraser kit and models with the Aquabeads kit. Each of these items will allow my students to continue learning while at home.

I have 120 students--this is the seventh project to fulfill some of my students' needs.
