Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a high risk school where some of the students have little access to basic school supplies. My students are an amazing bunch of kids. They are very enthusiastic learners with lots of energy. They would benefit greatly from any support. I have various level of learners. Several of them are second language learners and students in transition. They love coming to school to learn. They are vibrant and always willing to try their best even when things get difficult.

My class would benefit greatly from any hands-on activities that would help support their learning regarding key concepts being taught.

They have such a willingness to learn and any materials or manipulatives would be greatly appreciated by not only me, but also my students.

My Project

The white-out, highlighters, Velcro dots, and colorful felt-tip pens will allow my students to stay organized in the classroom and also show creativity while they are learning and working. Students will utilize the highlighters to annotate readings and the colorful felt-tip pens will be used to organize their writing and/or show how they correct their mistakes after taking a test. I will use the markers to make various anchor charts in the classroom that will help the students with their writing. The document camera will be used so the students can easily share their work on the SmartBoard and I can share my notes with them so they can easily be copied. The laminating pouches and a laminator will allow me to keep their work neat to take home. The playground equipment allows for them to have new activities to try out during our recess/P.E. time. I added in STEM activities that build teamwork to utilize if we are inside due to inclement weather. I added sanitizing supplies to keep the classroom and students healthy.
