Ms. Millner from Washington DC is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a netbook to use for class projects and assignments.

Google "Constitution activities". There are so many engaging, educational options for students to explore. I would love to utilize these and so many other web based resources in class.
I teach at a public school located in Washington, D.C.
Even though our students grow up in one of the most powerful cities in the world, we lack many necessities. Our school is plagued with budget cuts and is surrounded by a community that cannot offer monetary support. One hundred percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch, a telling sign of the poverty they experience. Despite these obstacles many of students have noble aspirations. They desperately want to become lawyers, doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs. Ambitious career goals such as these will require students to have a firm grasp of modern technology.
Most of our students do not have computers in their homes and there is no functioning computer lab or library in our school. This means that asking a student to conduct Internet research, create multimedia projects, or word process assignments is virtually impossible. Our students are not familiar with basic search engines, how to save a document and key boarding. Because we cannot hold these basic technological expectations for our students, they are will not be prepared for high school, college or most careers. If I have this netbook in my room, I can use it for classroom activities and allow students to use it for research and writing.
This technology could benefit all students who could use to complete individual research projects, write essays, and obtain homework help.
Our school needs a computer lab. Please consider helping our students get the access to technology they need to achieve their goals!
