Supporting Young Learners During Covid-19

Help me give my students learning opportunities during Covid-19 by supplying them with manipulatives.

My Students

I am a special education teacher in Camden, NJ. My students all have developmental delays which require my services to help them in Math, Reading and Social Emotional areas of development. Since COVID19, I have had limited contact with my students.

My Project

Many students who receive special education lessons lose skills while not in school. During this time of Covid-19, remote learning has its challenges. Most households do not have manipulatives or supplies on hand to help learning.

Distributing these backpacks to my families will give them supplies, ideas and manipulatives to help develop and maintain early learning skills.

Playing is an important part of learning reading and math concepts. This also develops social emotional skills such as sharing and turn taking. This will support parents in helping their child develop and maintain skills over the summer.
