Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our classroom, language is strength.

Many of my students are bilingual or are in the process of learning English, while maintaining their Spanish.

They bring rich cultural backgrounds, powerful stories, and incredible resilience. What they need are high-quality books and dictionaries that honor and support both of their languages.

This project will provide Spanish books, bilingual picture dictionaries, and Spanish-English dictionaries so students can grow as confident readers and writers in both languages.

With these materials, students will be able to:

Read engaging stories in Spanish at their independent level

Strengthen vocabulary using bilingual picture dictionaries

Build academic language with Spanish-English dictionaries

Develop confidence when writing in both languages

Practice reading skills through structured step-into-reading texts

Having classroom sets of Spanish books ensures that students are not limited to English-only texts. They deserve to see their home language represented, respected, and valued at school.

When students can access books in a language they understand deeply, their comprehension improves, their confidence grows, and their love for reading strengthens.
