This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The pocket translators will save time for myself and students when communicating with each other. In class we use Google Translator and I use websites that translate to various languages for my students. When it is time for them to explain ideas or answers to me in class or even talk to me when they do not understand it takes a lot of time to keep using Google Translate. I know this pocket translator could allow me to reach more students during a class period and allow my students to feel more comfortable talking with me when they do not have to alsways talk in English.
Students are always trying to teach me new words and the book Teaching English to Spanish and the pocket translator will allow my students to see that I am trying to learn just as they are trying to learn a new language.
I know a few words in Spanish. I have several languages in my classes which include Spanish, Hatian-Creole and Portugese. Hopefully I be able to learn enough words in all of these languages to help my students.
