My Project

I am a newcomer social worker in Oakland dedicated to supporting students who have recently arrived in the United States. These students are navigating immense challenges, including adjusting to a new culture, learning a new language, and processing the experiences of moving to a new country.

My project aims to lean into joy and creativity as tools for healing and integration.

I need art and organization supplies to transform my office and group space into a welcoming, therapeutic environment where students can focus on self-care and mental health.

**Your donation will directly provide:

**Art Supplies:Materials like paint, clay, colored pencils, and journals will be used in group sessions to help students express complex emotions and tell their personal stories in a safe, non-verbal way. This is crucial for processing trauma and learning about **self-care**.

**Organization Tools: Clear bins, labeled storage, and functional furniture will create a calm, predictable space, reducing the stress and chaos newcomers often face. A well-organized environment provides a sense of security and structure essential for mental well-being and effective learning.

By funding these basic supplies, you will give my students the opportunity to learn resilience, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and connect with their peers as they navigate their new lives in Oakland. Thank you for helping me foster a space of security, creativity, and hope.
